American Meat Institute Announces New Legislative Affairs Director Dale Nellor

(Washington, D.C.) March 7, 2006 - The American Meat Institute today announced that Capitol Hill veteran Dale Nellor joined AMI as director of legislative affairs as part of the Institute’s expanded legislative department.

In his new position, Nellor will report to AMI Senior Vice President of Legislative of Affairs Mike Brown.

Previously, Nellor worked for more than two years as a legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE). His responsibilities as a principle advisor to Sen. Hagel focused on all agricultural issues, energy, rural development, natural resources and related appropriations policy. Nellor has additional agricultural policy advocacy experience having served as a policy consultant for the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation. Prior to that, Nellor served as a campaign manager and as an agricultural policy consultant for several campaigns for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Originally, from a row crop and livestock farm in northeastern Nebraska, he received his B.S. in business management from Concordia University in Wisconsin.

“Dale’s legislative and agricultural policy experience will help augment the AMI legislative team,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle. “The additional staffing in our legislative department should allow us to build upon the representation that we currently provide our members and increase our effectiveness on Capitol Hill.”

AMI also announced the promotion of two veteran staff members. Lobbyist Rob Rosado has been promoted to senior director of legislative affairs and Lynn Morrissette has been promoted to senior director of regulatory affairs. Rosado has been with AMI since 2001. His areas of responsibility include agricultural and immigration issues. Morrissette has been in the regulatory affairs department since joining AMI in 2000, representing the industry on a wide array of regulatory issues, such as HACCP and SSOP compliance matters, as well as representing the membership before committees of the Codex Alimentarius.

“Rob and Lynn have proven track records of leadership on issues affecting the meat industry. They will continue to lead coalition efforts in important areas such as opposing user fees, immigration reform and the development of nutrition labeling provisions,” Boyle said.
