Biography:


Dennis Boik is Director, Environmental & Sustainability Issues for the American Meat Institute.  He serves as the staff liaison to the AMI Environmental Advisory Committee.  In this role, he monitors emerging and changing environmental regulations that impact AMI members, promotes the use of environmental management systems to assure environmental compliance, and encourages members to undertake sustainability initiatives that lead to improved industry image and financial savings for member companies. 

Boik retired as director of environmental sustainability from Hormel Foods Corporation in December 2008 after 38 years with the company.  He was involved in plant engineering, energy management, environmental compliance, and mechanical engineering design during his years at Hormel.  He has extensive experience with environmental management systems, environmental auditing and reporting, environmental due diligence and has implemented sustainability initiatives resulting in significant reductions in water, energy and solid waste from manufacturing operations. 

Boik holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
