Environmental Achievement Awards Program

Environmental Achievement Awards

The AMI Environmental Achievement Awards are won by those member companies that go beyond environmental compliance by designing and successfully implementing an innovative plant upgrade or environmental program.

1. Resource Conservation (reduced use of water, electricity, natural gas)
2. Pollution Prevention (reduced solid or toxic waste, recycling, cleaner production practices)
3. Upgrades to Improve Environmental Sustainability (advanced technology, upgraded systems, software)
4. Environmental Outreach to the Public (including green marketing)
5. Environmental Training Programs

In order to be eligible for the AMI Environmental Achievement Award, all participants must submit supporting data on natural resource, financial or other metrics to document the achievements claimed in the submitted application. Graphs, charts or photographs are also helpful. In addition, all applicants must have achieved and still be eligible for one of the four tiers of the Environmental Recognition Program Awards.

Metrics

Collection of metrics is a required part of all AMI environmental awards. The following worksheet is designed to help you chart your "environmental footprint," by identifying key environmental measurements to track progress from season to season and year to year. Use these comparisons to determine key aspects in your plant operations to focus your EMS, or to support your application for an Environmental Achievement Award.
